Shamika: You got the wrong number.
Nov. 3rd, 2005 11:02 pmNot the ass-dragging sort of cold, but a cold nonetheless, and that shit is annoying.
Z had a rough day at work today, with much of the Boss Freaking Out And Wasting His Time. Z's doing the job of approximately 3 people, and when Boss has to waste two hours telling him about how he's going to make money off the Inter Nets or something along those lines (there's always something) it makes Z extremely cranky. So he came into my room and Gave Up On Life, and now he's listening to my iPod and lying in my bed while I actually attempt to write some more. I'm up to 13,000, which is better than I thought I'd be doing, but nothing has happened yet, and I realize I'm just basically writesturbating. I'm playing with my dolls, only on paper, only it's not really paper. But it feels kinda good, and I suppose that's nice and all. I'm also unnervingly obsessed and addicted, but that's just a personality feature, not a bug. Right? Urgh.
So today I got a really weird voicemail. It was from someone named Shamika. I didn't catch the name she addressed my voicemail to, but the content of the voicemail (and now I really wish I had saved it) was that we could finish our visit this evening in the parking lot at McDonald's. I told Z about it and he said, "You just got booty-called!" I really am not sure, but I wish I'd kept it. It was a 716 area code. I suppose I still have it in my missed-call log. I should call her back, except I really don't actually want to know.
But Shamika, if you're reading this, I don't think your message got to the right person. There probably won't be anyone waiting for you in the McDonald's parking lot. I'm sorry. I just don't know which McDonald's. And also I'm afraid of you because I don't understand what the Hell you're talking about.
It makes me wonder what my voicemail greeting sounds like. I really have no idea. I don't remember. It might just be some weird computery voice.
Oh! Last night Z and I went to see the Wallace & Gromit movie. I am a W&G fangirl. In 1997 I bought a massive Econo Pak of Ty-Phoo tea because it had a salt shaker free with it that looked like the penguin ("Feathers McGraw") from The Wrong Trousers. I don't know where the salt shaker went. This makes me very sad. (I did manage to drink all the tea before I left. Except some, I think I gave away.)
I also have little plastic figurines of Gromit and Sean (the sheep from A Close Shave; his name's not actually Shorn, is it? that's just Wallace's accent, isn't it?) in my bathroom. I don't know where I got them. Anyway, we went to the movie and I actually danced to the theme song, and I don't think I stopped laughing in delight the entire time. It's not quite as wacky-magic as A Grand Day Out, but it's got hella better production values, and I had a blast anyhow. Lots of excellent in-jokes and the sort of minutely insane detailed sight gags you only get in stop-motion done by OCD people. Also a bit more with the subtle adult wordplay. ("May Contain Nuts." Tee hee! And whoa, nun wrestling!)

Date: 2005-11-05 03:04 pm (UTC)I know about the accent, I just had a moment's doubt about how the character's name was actually spelled, as I'd never seen it written.
They show it at Christmas? Bah, they never show it around here. Oh well. I have the videos... .. . but I don't own a TV or a VCR so it's sort of futile.
