dragonlady7Am rather too scattered to attempt a coherent entry, so instead I'll just post a snippet for now.
The evening I arrived in Ithaca, Ann took me downtown (after a walk through the plantations to the dairy bar for ice cream, of course). We drove, and found a place to park. As we walked toward the Commons, we heard a strange noise.
"Sounds like someone playing an accordion," Ann said, looking around. Along the street, among the cars, came a boy on a bicycle, probably 22 or so, a college kid most likely. He was towing a little cart behind him, and in it was another boy, bearded and barefoot, scrunched up to fit in what amounted to a child seat facing backwards. The boy in the cart was playing an accordion. The boy on the bicycle was whistling along. They made their way through the traffic and into the main, pedestrians-only square downtown. Ann looked them over and was somewhat disappointed that it was nobody she knew.
It may be funnier if I never explain that they were headed to the monthly community bike ride, whose August theme was "pirates vs. vikings". (Although that still doesn't explain them entirely, it at least gives them some sort of context.)
