Hi David,
Thanks again for coming in last week. We are interested in hiring you
and would like you to come in to meet this week. with [editor] to talk
about the position.

Was lying facedown at the foot of Z's bed pondering the infinities of the unknowable (read: falling asleep) and Z was idly poking around on his computer when the Gmail Notifier announced "You have new mail from Webmaster". So it was kinda exciting. (We'd just gone out and run some errands, away from the house, to kill some time, and had come back to... empty inbox.)
He's going in tomorrow morning. We expect it'll mostly be them trying to see how little they can pay him and how much crap he'll put up with, but that's sort of how these things go. But then, taking the foot-into-door job will be an investment, and Z is much less likely to wind up as the doormat-in-the-door than I. If they dick him around, Z will move on. But we think they won't. So. That's exciting.
Other than that, have done nothing of note today, besides discover that my latest letter to Katy was so fat it required sixty cents' postage and barely fit into the envelope.
Oh, also-- my experimental second crop of peas is just starting to poke little green bits through the dirt. Success! At least, initial success: the seeds will come up. (Peas ought to be planted in March or April. We did. But they're done now, and we want more. So we hit on the idea of planting a fall crop. We'll see if it works. One kind of pea advertised on Burpee mentioned that it could be replanted at midsummer, so I feel clever for having come up with the idea on my own. I'll feel cleverer still if it *works*.) They're planted in the first bit of garden expansion I started on for next year's garden, which with any luck will be more than twice the size of this year's, and still more successful because it'll be sunnier. So, might as well use the dirt now I've pulled the sod off and added topsoil and tilled it all, right?
Discussed some of next year's proposed additions with Z (who was generally agreeable to most of my ideas at least, if not as enthused as I-- I need to work more edible plants into this scheme), and via IM with Mom confirmed that she'll probably buy me a bunch of bulbs from White Flower for my birthday this fall, so if Dave's employed then it looks like we're settling in here for at least another gardening season. :)
Oh, speaking (earlier) of Gmail Notifier, he's had over 550 downloads now, and a third person gave him $5. He's terribly proud of himself. As he should be; it's a very good program.
