Well then.
Jul. 1st, 2005 02:22 pmMy foot is mostly better. Thanks to some illicit Canadian codeine and a whole lot of ignoring it, plus the immune-system boost always provided by calling in sick to work. Freeeedommm!!! Whee.
Phoned Dad to confirm that they had directions. He clarified that they won't be arriving until 8 at the earliest. Le sigh.
Have been very sluggish today. But, I sent Dave to buy groceries, and meanwhile-- I cleaned my room.
It's not done, but I put the clothes away. I just have never had a very good relationship with clothes-dressers. Am compromising by putting all socks into a bin, since they never fit in the drawer. If a pair of socks is in my drawer it means I never wear it.
I am jealous of
lenine2's summer vacation. I wisht somebody'd fire me and leave me a nice six-week gap until my next gig. Hell, I wish I could afford for that to happen. Think of all the stuff I could do in six weeks...
Have just wrapped Fiona's birthday/xmas present. I'm going to write "happy stuff day" on it because her birthday was December. Not to worry; she's coming with my Christmas present as well. We don't see one another often, no we don't. Le sigh. (that's two this post!)
I wish fiona were staying longer so she could take me clothes shopping. As it is I'll just have to get her advice on where I should go and what I should look for. Dave doesn't work. I'll also get her advice on coordinating some outfits I have. Dave's not very good at that either, although he has a better eye than I do.
I wish Ann were coming too, actually, because she's the sister with hairstyle advice. She could give me some good ideas. She's in Montana, though, apparently. (Anybody out that way, be on the lookout for a five-feet-nine dark-blonde girl with probably no shoes on and far more freckles than are good for a human. Bonus points if she's roaring something or doing her drink-beer-with-no-hands party trick that I taught her.)
I also wish Katy were coming, but then, that's nothing new. I was playing with the printer and printed up a couple pictures of her to stick in the weird photo holders we got for Christmas that until now have had nothing in them. I am looking forward to tonight far more than moderately; at one point last week I was overcome with such a powerful longing to see my family that I actually cried in the parking lot at work. I mean, for like, a minute, but still. I miss them all so goddamn much.
Le sigh, for a third time: I am going to go finish cleaning my room. Mom and Dad should have left Melrose about fifteen minutes ago; I'll see them in about five hours and some change.
And oh, a foosh update: while i was being lethargic and listless and sitting in the sole chair remaining in the living room, I was watching Mai Tai swim around her bowl in her usual frenzied fury. Two items:
1) she blew several bubbles. Only males blow bubbles. They use them to build nests. The females do not nurture the young; only the males do. This is not something that ever varies.
2) I held up a mirror and she did a full male aggressive display. Her fins are markedly larger than they were when we bought her, and her gill covers are now almost as big as Gibson's.
So, my conclusion is that Mai Tai is not a female at all, but an adolescent male. Well then! We've all learned a little something here today about biology and mis-marketing. What the hell we do now, I don't really know. But there's my deductive reasoning.

From the post about your ubermanager, I'd say you're absorbing some life lessons in spite of yourself. (And I'm not really 89.)
