So I called to say I'd be coming home from work (because i wasn't sure about the end time and had agreed to call), and Dave didn't answer. Weird; he's usually at home because I have his car. Left a message. We''re going to his aunt's house for dinner at 5:30. It's almost 5:00 now. I got home. Dave's not here. All the doors are locked.
I don't know where he is.

Mai Tai was missing. How does a fish go missing? Last I knew she was in with Gibson, so I searched and searched in his compartment. Increasingly worried, I looked and looked, and finally found her in Alexander's compartment, sitting on the floor. She seemed unhappy. I scooped her out and put her into her bowl. I don't think she can be left unsupervised with a fish as aggressive as Alexander. I wouldn't've left her unsupervised with Gibson either. Somebody's been nibbling on her fins-- there are a few shreds missing, which can't be very pleasant.

I have to leave to get to Dave's aunt's house at some point. It's not far away. I might be able to find it on my own. But I've no idea where Dave is. He didn't leave a note. My computer was awake, which means he woke it up (probably to check my schedule? I told him I'd call him and tell him when I got out), but he didn't leave me a note there either. There's nothing on the fridge or in my email or on my IM. I don't know where else he'd leave me a note.

So I'm a little mystified. I called his cellphone, but it immediately kicked over into voicemail, which means he has it off or it's crashed. (It crashes all the fucking time.)

I left him a message. I doubt he'll get it, as his phone's off. I guess I could start calling around-- maybe his mom would know where he was. ...

I dunno. Am I crazy for wondering where he is? I guess I don't have to leave the house for another half an hour... so I can postpone my search for him until then... But where is he? And why didn't he leave me a fucking note, eh?

I see you didn't update by 8:00 so I assume you are at his aunt's for dinner. Hope he's there.

I don't think you're crazy for wondering. I expect he probably showed up and thought that you were, but THIS IS NORMAL. People living together are *supposed* to care that the other one is all right.

I'd be worried too. Post and tell us what happened when you find out!

Not to worry.

So. While you're out serving drinks to creepy hair fetishists, I'm doing important secret missions for an important secret international spy organization. Thus far I have been able to keep my important secret missions secret [since the important secret international spy organization is opposed to paying me full-time, most of the important secret missions end up lasting 7½ hours or less]. Yesterday, however, the more I knew about my 'subject' the more I knew I didn't know. It's like I was unravelling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting…

It started out simple: infiltrate the nefarious Adams crime family and steal plans for their next-generation weapon of mulch destruction, code-named 'Black Gold.' Soon, however, this mission led me to the shadowy Jimmy ['The Birthmark'] Cappicola of the rival Sunview 'Garden Center' crime syndicate, wanted for questionining in the mysterious death of Agent Pansy in the failed Operation Wedding Cake.

Meanwhile, it became known to my senior investigator [known only as 'Mother'] that Danny ['Double-Bagger'] Wegman was trafficking in the aluminum trade, offering dollars on the penny for scrap metal. I was temporarily reassigned to investigate the possibility that he was building some sort of lightweight aluminum doomsday device. When I found out that he was buying back not only his own aluminum but also that of the rival Dutch-based Ahold Cartel, we knew something was up - though naturally our findings are classified.
