Whoa, dude. Getting out of the house means I actually had to skip=20 to read all my flist. Dude. You guys have been having lives and whatnot.

I had a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday. I gaily robed myself in my new twirly skirt from Old Navy, and after some prevarication as to what on earth to wear on top (the skirt is blue-and-slightly-off-white with a mustard-yellow hem. Weird. But cuter than it sounds) I settled on a black blouse and out the door we went.
We went over to the outlet mall in Niagara Falls NY, to pass some time. It was fun. I almost bought a wire whisk-- I have a plastic one I dislike, but no wire one-- and tried on several bras that almost fit, including a truly impressive strapless one that was a terrifying feat of engineering but, sadly, DD instead of DDD and that extra little D is actually kind of important. :) I did successfully purchase 5 pairs of underpants for $10, thereby ending the streak of unsuccessful shopping trips. I am psyched for new undies.

We then zipped over to Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Rainbow Bridge was closed off with orange cones and US Customs was looking in every car, after the tollbooths and before Canadian customs. (Why not just have the US officers collaborate with the Canadian customs so the cars can stop at the booths where the road is striped and safe for such a thing? We wound up milling about in a bit of a melee until the Customs guy sent us through.)

We then proceeded to discover that there are no less than six Days' Inns within a small area of NF, and we'd gone to the wrong one. Fortunately we found the right one within ten minutes of the time we'd said we'd be there.

It was absolutely lovely to see Liesl and Dave. In retrospect, I think I was so excited that I regressed to my highschool self at times, as I seem to have had almost no social grace, remembering the things I did. But it was, on the whole, fun. Liesl seems very much herself and very well settled with Dave, who is likewise himself only older and wiser. Dave had some wildly entertaining stories about med school. Liesl had some good stories about teaching. Dave's entering his 3rd year of med school, starting all his clerkships and what have you next year. Liesl has got her master's degree and is looking for work as a high school teacher. (She has an interview on Wednesday.)

The nice thing about seeing old friends is that you can kind of pick up where you left off, and yet intelligently discuss the time that has passed.

We got home at 1:30 and passed out and I admit to having slept shockingly late this morning-- it was after 9 when Dave came and got in my bed to wake me up. (Days that start like that are always good days. I have high hopes for today.)

I have to work this afternoon, but I think I'll attempt to be productive beforehand.
