The other day I was listening to Dee-lite's World Clique tape, and it reminded me of my 16th birthday party, which had been a joint celebration for another friend, and she and I adored that particular tape and played it all night. THAT WAS FOURTEEN YEARS AGO, I realized. The thought totally took my breath away. I mean, WTF! Who said time could go by so fast?!? I certainly never authorized such a thing!

Urg, don't get me started.
Was at dinner with Dave's mom and one of her friends-- both of them teach 4th grade. 4th graders = 10 year olds.
Were bitching about the state testing. A science test contained a number of vocabulary words they knew their kids didn't know. Unfair, that a test about science should be too linguistically difficult.
One of the words was "offspring".
"Huh," I said, "Offspring is a band. Maybe they'd know it from that. Although it'd be more likely to confuse them."
The two women looked at me. "Offspring," they said. "I don't think these kids have heard of them."
"They're really popular," I said, and then thought about it. "Or they were a couple years ago. Oh." I thought more.
"Holy crap," I realized at last, "their big album came out in 1994."
"These kids were born in 1994," Dave's mom's friend said.

The icon is one I made out of a bit of fanart done for tehta: Ecthelion Watching Over Gondolin (http://www.shanksadelic.net/users/tehta/ecthelionbig.htm) by Silke. It's a beautiful drawing and is very Ecthelionesque.


For me, Saturdays are approximately what Thursdays are for everyone else, as I work on the weekends usually, although the schedule is subject to change without notice so really Saturdays are sort of like... any other day.

I think Friday is on the whole my favourite day, closely followed by Saturday!
