Jun. 4th, 2005 09:04 amAm so lazy, so very lazy.
Oh, we have an iris blooming in the yard. There are like twenty iris plants in the flowerbed-i-just-sorta-left-as-it-was, and only one of them even so much as has a flower stalk. It's blooming. It's a dusky rose-purple color, to my disappointment-- I absolutely love blue irises. I am going to have to get some blue irises from somewhere. I may just dig up all the non-blooming iris plants and dump them in that chunk of front garden that I don't know what else to do with, and put some proper blue irises in the back.
Someday. When I've money.
(Dude, irises are like a bunch of dollars for just one little like root thingy. They're not bulbs, i guess, but I don't really know what they are. Other plants I wish I had include giant alium ($15 a bulb!), a clematis ($14 a plant), and some sort of tree for the back (trees ain't cheap, unless I can get one from my dad. whatcha think, a black walnut? Sure it'll get way too big but it'll take 100 years). Someday. I'm also thinking of putting in a raised flowerbed in the front, possibly around a pretty shrub of some sort since a tree would only get root system tanglage with the sewer and all. But I don't know jack shit about landscaping.)
But I am lazy, very lazy. last night I abandoned my attempt at Elfsmut because I was drunk and sleepy, kept making typos, and kept forgetting midsentence where I was going. (That's always when I know I'm better off asleep.) So I arose early this morning intending to continue it. I got no exercise yesterday and so today i should do something, as I'm trying to exercise every other day, but I felt very mildly oogy (not sick, but not exactly excited about living either) and justified doing nothing more than a few desultory ab exercises with the thought that, well, I had Writing to do. (Not even plot-significant writing. Pff.) So I came out to my computer, and well well, there was an update notice for Hands of the King, which I am completely and totally addicted to. (It's a story in beta at HASA by Anglachel, about the courtship and marriage of Denethor and Finduilas, and it's like, it's like, I don't know, but I've been faithfully following the thing for holy crap, like a year now. She puts up a chapter every couple weeks and the whole thing's like fifty goddamn chapters long. It's addictive. Holy cow is it ever addictive. I periodically reread the entire thing (29 chapters now) and pull out any miniscule typos she's still missed, because I love that story. But I digress.)
So naturally I had to read that, and given that her chapters are like 12,000 words long, well...
Suffice to say it's already 9 am, I've already eaten a yogurt and a cookie, I have gotten no exercise, and only one of my Elves is naked yet, and it's Glorfindel which doesn't even count because my Glorfindel is pretty much always naked. And, eating that cookie made me hungry. Durr, yes, I have a body that makes sense, don't you? Urgh.
I am so LAZY.

Date: 2005-06-04 05:02 pm (UTC)They bloom at the same time as my peonies. They were also free. I got pieces from my mom’s whose came from my great-grandfather’s garden. So there’s a nice family history to them.
I find myself envying people with yellow irises, but no way am I going to add to the battle to control my perennials.
