Found myself at home alone and singing in the kitchen. "Hey wait," I thought. "I said I'd do a PhonePost with a song for St. Pat's day but I had that awful cough. Is my voice better? I should do it."
The voice isn't as it was, as I haven't taken a lesson in five years and haven't practiced either, but it's still good enough to do:
A cheesy rendition of a cheesy Tin Pan Alley pseudo-Irish folk song!!!
Yes indeedy folks: I present to you, in .ogg file format, via a terrible reception, my cheesiest-possible overblown rendition of "Danny Boy".
Err on the side of too low with your volume. i was cooking, so i was kind of... well, cooking. :D

Date: 2005-05-17 11:35 am (UTC)May 17 is the Norwegian national holiday. It's the celebration of the Norwegian constitution of 1814 when the country was released from under Danish rule. Yay! (Of course - shortly after and until 1905 Norway was under Swedish rule...) This year is also the country's hundredth anniversary. Double yay!
May 16 is a big day for all the kids who 'graduate' from 'high school'. May 17 marks the end of their celebration of their adultery (*snicker* adulthood?). So they stay up most of the night and get very very drunk. And today they participate in the big parades in all the cities, looking and feeling their very best...
A very basic introduction to the Norwegian national holiday. I'll give you more in-depth-description some time. There's a lot more to it, really...
But happy May 17 to everybody! :]

Date: 2005-05-17 11:42 am (UTC)I actually have my calendar program subscribed to not only US holidays and Christian holidays, but also Norwegian holidays, so I was already informed that today was "Grunnlovsdag", although I wasn't sure what that meant.
I'm going to repost this in a post to my friendslist. :)
