why you gotta be hatin' on my iMac?
May. 16th, 2005 11:45 amEverything hates my computer today.
This morning I decided to restart the system, because it had been running for like four or five weeks, and Gmail makes my preferred browser, Safari, get slow and stupid. (Gmail has all kinds of Javascripts in it, and it's cool, but hijacks your browser if you use tabs like I do. It has some retarded thing built in so that when the page loads it makes itself the front page: so, if in the meantime, you've been browsing something else, it will whip you away from the tab into which you're typing, and off it goes into Gmail.
It sucks, and I hate it, but there's nothing I can do about it, and Gmail is better than anything else I have available to me at the moment.
So I restarted, and off I went cheerfully into the world.
iTunes started poking me: There's a new version available. Would I like to update?
I looked: none of the new features even applied to me. But, might as well be up-to-date.
Well. Now I click on iTunes, the program launches, and then it hangs.
I can't Force Quit; it just doesn't do it.
I tried restarting the computer but iTunes hangs that too. I can't shut down. I'm going to have to unplug.
I'm so pleased that my computer has chosen to be so unusually recalcitrant on the day that Dave saved up all of his schoolwork for the semester to do. I asked him if he wanted a cup of tea and he just about bit my head off. So I guess I'll be fixing my computer myself, by unplugging it and going outside lest I start breaking things.
