dragonlady7Rec'd a number of things in the mail today. One was new checks that actually bear the correct address. At this point I have some four hundred spare checks lying around printed with not one but three different addresses. Sequentially I'm still on the checks with my parents' address on them, but I admit I have skipped around, and for a while was using the ones with the Westchester address on them. However, in order to set up direct deposit from my job, I must have a check bearing my current address, and so... Starting on check #501, I live in Buffalo. But sequentially I'm on number 235 or so, and it says Melrose. (I pay most of my bills online.)
I also unexpectedly received a package wrapped in brown paper addressed in my mother's handwriting.
Within there is:
There was no note or signature of any kind, nor did I receive any other correspondence, electronic or physical, to alert me to expect this package or to explain in any way its contents.
Which is, at this point, typical of my mother.

- a magnet shaped like a woolly mammoth (my first love was mammoths; dinosaurs were a poor substitute)
- a flier for a poetry reading two weeks ago in Saratoga Springs NY by a "Brigit Pegeen Kelly", award-winning poet (who I have never heard of)
- an opened envelope containing a begging letter from my university
- a rubber ice-cube tray that makes ice cubes in the shape of penguins
There was no note or signature of any kind, nor did I receive any other correspondence, electronic or physical, to alert me to expect this package or to explain in any way its contents.
Which is, at this point, typical of my mother.
