another Iraq update
Mar. 21st, 2005 10:30 amI haven't posted the last couple emails from Katy, because I've been too disorganized. I did have one tidbit I wanted to share, though.
She called home yesterday because it was Mom's birthday.
One of the things she had done recently that she told Mom about is that she and a girlfriend went to the on-base salon and had their eyebrows shaped. Apparently the locals use twisted string to pluck their eyebrows. It's wicked painful, but the locals are very skilled at it.
Mom, sort of teasingly, asked whether Adam had had his done.
Oh yes, Katy answered. As part of haircuts here the men do that-- they shape your eyebrows a bit with string, and then they swab your ears with alcohol and set them on fire to burn off the ear-hair.
Iraqis are very fastidious.
