there's like a search-engine party going on my access log. This is my third straight day of getting Googlebot-plundered, though today it's the Image Googlebot, who I've never noticed visiting before.
And Yahoo Slurp has been by like daily all week. At least MSN stopped coming-- they were all over the site in ridiculous quantities for like six days. (MSN spiders waaay too aggressively and has been known to take down servers in its early beta days. I was more heavily involved in the search-engine world back then and we did a lot of pointing and laughing at them, the idiots, who thought they could break the robots exclusion protocol and what, webmasters wouldn't mind?? Pff.) But I digress.
Doobu's also in there, who I haven't seen before but have heard of.
This can only mean one thing. I'd better start watching my logs for... you got it! Weird Search Strings! I've been so thoroughly spidered that I must be indexed by 'em all, so I'm gonna start showing up in searches...
Not that I don't already. Do I have any good ones today?
*scroll scroll scroll*
Bah, message gets clipped after all the obsessive Googlebot spidering. My only search string today that came through was "crinoline" on Yahoo! image search. (I didn't know Yahoo had an image search. Hm, looks just like Google.)
Well then. That was my geeking out SEO-wise for, like, the week at least. (Though you bet I'm gonna be watching those access logs to see if anything good shows up in my search strings.)
Can you believe that I, after sleeping most of the day yesterday, fell asleep at like 10 last night and slept straight on thru to almost 8 am this morning? I haven't slept that long in months. The sore throat is gone, but now my sinuses are full of goo and evil... (Mmm, the Sinus of Goo and Evil) Still, better than making me paranoid about my damn tonsils again. Maybe I'll be normal again by the time I have to go to work. Or at least, not wanting to die (said in swooning voice). (I am well aware that "normal" is at any time too much to ask for.)
OK! *goes off to be productive on Second Day Off In A Row* Man I love weekends!

Re: geeking out SEO-wise
Date: 2005-03-10 03:31 pm (UTC)I haven't been entirely taken out of SEO, I just don't do it as anything but a hobby. I do think it's something more people ought to understand. I am spreading the gospel. Keep an eye out for well-optimized fanfiction archives, as those seem to be the circles I'm moving in now. ;)
