I was apparently working for Desmond, who was rescheduled to work for Bob, who had called in for tonight. Beth had called in as well so they were short a person, but they thought perhaps they could manage just down one. Mondays aren't too busy.
I was totally confused, for sure. (Also: the dishwasher was mysteriously jammed shut, the ice bucket was missing, and I had two crates of unsorted beer bottles that I had to make some sense of. In addition, the carbonation was going, but not consistently; only two of my beer taps refused to work, while the soda and other two beer taps were working fine. All in all, surreal and confusing. The Night Shift strikes again!)
But I made more money today in tips than I did in 5 days last week. I also overheard Scheduling Manager telling Paycheck Lady to be sure that I was to be paid at the Club rate ($1 an hour extra) for the entire week, and that my overtime was to be based on that rate as well. So that was nice to hear.
As for the bus, I came outside and retrieved my schedule (scribbled on the back of a receipt) and discovered that my bus was set to leave in ten minutes. So I went there, and it pulled up, and I got on, and made my way home without incident. Well then. That was painless. (But, entirely by chance; I got out at an unexpected time.)
At some point during work, Dave had emailed my phone. I retrieved the message. It was a multimedia message, not a text one.
He'd sent me a photo.
I got home and that same photo was tiled as my desktop wallpaper:

I'm only sorry I wasn't there to witness the transformation. And, the Death of the Horrifying Wings Of Neck Hair. (Yeugh.)
I laughed so hard when I saw that picture on my phone, though, that I alarmed the lady in the cash office. It's OK, they all think I'm crazy. So do I, sometimes.
