Feb. 9th, 2005 10:13 amI was updating last night about how yesterday wasn't such a bad day after all, and then I wandered off to update the airport bartender blog I'm keeping anonymous, and then I was poking around, and realized I hadn't finished the update, and then I hit "submit" anyway and fell asleep.
I didn't get around to mentioning the two nice Dave moments from yesterday. One is that he came to see me at work, which pleased me. He showed up shortly before everyone at my bar either got up and left, or got up and went into the dining room to sit down and be waited on by the waitress. She felt bad about that, as it means they're her customers not mine, and I didn't have any more customers the rest of the night, and she had three other tables come in. But it wasn't bad at all because it meant I could go just sit next to Dave. I ate some free food, whatever the cook had on hand to give me, and Dave ended up eating half of it because I'd been so hungry eating made me feel ill (dizzy-- v. annoying). And we just sat at the bar, drinking water, and talked, and it was almost like I wasn't at work at all, only I was getting paid $4.50 an hour to be sitting there. (Because the bartender's the one who operates the cash register. Waitresses can leave when their area's dead. The bartender has to stay until closing.)
The other nice Dave moment is that he only came to see me at work because-- he found money! A prepaid credit card his company gave him last Christmas (along with a $5k bonus which is long gone on tuition, car payments, and gas), with $150 on it!
So he came over intending to buy beer from me. I poured him the beer but never got around to charging him. Oops. Oh well.
It doesn't solve any woes, but it alleviates a few of them for the moment. So this morning he came in and we read the funnies on his computer in bed and it was very snuggly and happy, and my feet don't hurt too bad, so I'm working my way up to getting dressed to leave for work in 20 minutes. Things could be way worse. Including my mood.
On another note, I got a lovely email yesterday to which I am mulling over my response, so that is in the works but 8 hours of hopefully well-paid labor intrudes meanwhile.
