She's not flying after all, she's taking a 3-day convoy up to Baghdad.
Which means she'll see more of the country, which she wanted. But it also means she'll have lots more chances to, well, you know, drive over roadside bombs and get shot at and all those things.
Her husband Adam and her main NCO (a Sergeant) flew up a little while ago. Katy's excited because her room is a single and has a door with a lock. (Last tour she lived in a tent with several others.) She's really, really excited about the locking door. And it's probably reasonably sand-proof, unlike last tour. So there's just good things all over that. Adam will be living just across the street. And he and the Sgt. have been foraging for furniture for her so that her room will be all nice when she gets there.
So... yeah, they were going to fly, but they're convoying instead.
