About half the house is clean. Which is probably all that could be expected. I've been breathing bathroom-cleaner fumes for a while, and my hands are an absolute wreck, but I'll just sit here and drink a 24-oz bottle of water and hope for the best.
Dave cleaned the kitchen and the dinette and they look lovely. He even scrubbed the countertop. He did not, however, I just noticed, even wipe down the stove top, so the thing is a disgusting mess. Hopefully nobody will notice because dinner will be cooking on it.
I tidied the living room, rearranged some of the furniture, vacuumed the rug and the floors of the living room, kitchen, hallway, dinette, and bathroom. I then mopped (well, used Swiffer Wet, which isn't worth the trouble so those of you considering it, just get a damn mop) the bathroom and kitchen floors. I scrubbed the tub, sink, and toilet, dusted the living room furniture and the sideboard in the dinette, and even wiped down the dirty lid to the kitchen garbage can. I also rearranged the mats by the entryway and in the basement, and washed and dried the bathmats in the bathroom.
Dave went grocery shopping to get ingredients for tonight's dinner. He left over an hour ago. His friends are supposed to be here in half an hour. I have a feeling dinner won't be ready.
I haven't written a word today. Haven't even looked at my notes or opened the document. This makes me unhappy. But, the house needed to be cleaned.
We aren't actually going skating. It's too cold outside, apparently. So we're just having dinner here. I don't have an appetizer or anything; I didn't think to tell Dave to pick something up, because I thought he'd be back in time to make dinner. Ah well. Someday when I am an experienced hostess and Have My Shit Together, all will go more smoothly.
And it will be lovely to have people over tonight, and to chat and socialize and so on.
But that means i have to write both Ch. 5 and Ch. 6 tomorrow.
Oh good, Dave's home, which means we get dinner.

Date: 2005-01-27 02:08 am (UTC)That wasn't apparent? It seemed pretty obvious to me... Livejournal doesn't count towards wordcount goals. Only publishable real content counts. But you can't just sit down and write publishable real content the way you can livejournal entries.
Sorry to be snarky, but I really dislike unsigned anonymous comments. Please, at least leave a nickname so I know if you've commented before.

Date: 2005-01-27 03:08 pm (UTC)I pointed the comment out to Dave and he looked at the IP and said, "MA. Isn't that qwerty fella from MA? He's kind of a wise guy sometimes." And I said, "but he always signs his posts!"
So I guess Dave knows you better than me. I am humbled.

Date: 2005-01-27 03:28 pm (UTC)Hey, is it my fault I was raised by a Brooklynite and a Broxioid (or whatever they're called) so 90% of my words come out in the form of sarcasm?
But I wasn't completely kidding, you know. I get that you're referring to the novel, but for a writer, it seems to me that any writing is work, and as such it's part of the process. So it counts. Kinda.
