*eyes crossing*
Dec. 31st, 2004 09:22 pmI got out of work early. I had one customer all day. Five dollars in sales. Total. No tips.
So they said, meh, go home, nobody's coming in.
I resolved the pay rate issue for working at the club by talking to the Payroll chick. "Oh yeah," she said. "I forgot. It's kind of a pain to do it. Bring in your old pay stubs and I'll throw it in there for ya."
So. $1 an hour ain't much, but when you've worked there 48 hours so far, I suppose that's a nice little bit of change to add in to the total.
So I'm home. Dave made steak & Guinness pie for dinner tonight, as a bit of a surprise. (Because I was feeling broke, and if we went out and had lobster tonight I'd have to get more money from my nearly-bled-dry account to do so.) I think he enjoyed the accomplishment of having made something so tremendously delicious even more than he would have enjoyed just going out and having something. And... here we go, brace yourselves...
He did the dishes.
So.
I made Singapore Slings and damn, yo, those things are good. I used Bombay Sapphire for the test batch because we're nearly out of cheap gin, and I followed the Tiki Cocktail Over-Elaborate recipe with vanilla in it, and holy shit these things are good.
I mean, they're strong like oxen, but in that expensive-gin kind of way, and they're flavorful as hell, tasting like, well, gin and fruit. And holy hell they're good.
So, I have a second batch, sans club soda, sitting in the freezer. In a few minutes, I'll pour up our second helpings, and we'll start watching the movie.
I may well wind up hung over for work tomorrow but y'know what? Ain't going to be no customers. So it won't matter.
Wheeeee!!! Let the New Year's mayhem begin!!
