dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (bluefairy)

Have just returned from a shopping spree of wild abandon, in which I spent little money (yay giftcards!) and acquired many new things, including a new cellphone. No longer will Dave and I each pay $40-50 a month for cellphones that we only ever use to call one another-- I was added to his plan and now he'll just pay $60 and I'll give him half in cash. Many birds with a single stone-- cheaper cellphones for both of us, he doesn't pay ATM fees, I don't have to figure out how to get quite so much cash into my account. So. Will post new phone # friendslocked later. :) I liked the old phone marginally better, but I'll live. Anyone use Verizon and need a new phone? Mine's 2 years old and works as well as the day I bought it.

Bought many things on sale at Old Navy with the gift card Katy sent me (Katy goes nuts buying presents, I must say)-- I figured I had about $100 worth of stuff, went to check out, and discovered by process of deduction that there must have been some kind of storewide sale, because my $100 worth of stuff only took $60 off the gift card. Shrug.

Then I went to J.C. Penney to return the underpants Mom got me. I've been a size 7 in undies for about... Ten years. So Mom sends me size 6es. Huh? She's never gotten it wrong before. But anyhow. I went to return them, but when the girl scanned them on the register, they showed up as being a sale price. I went and found the same ones-- the same exact ones, only in my size, and she scanned them on the register and they showed up as not being a sale price. So if I exchanged the undies my mom had paid full price for, for a pair of full-price exact replacements, I would owe about $5.
This confused the girl so much that she put the refund price on a gift card and then gave me the replacement ones and the gift card, and about fourteen receipts. In the end, I wandered dazedly out of the store with two pairs of underpants and a $10 gift card. I dunno-- I'm still confused. I think I came out ahead, though.

Then we went to Best Buy. I had a $20 gift card. We wandered around. I don't shop there often, so I didn't know where to even start. I considered getting a spare battery for my camera, so that I could keep shooting while the other one recharged. But, y'know, it's got a pretty long battery life, esp. because I never use the flash. So... Instead, at Dave's urging, I purchased the collector's edition DVD of Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas. So... That's going to be our New Year's. We're going to stay in and get fucked up and watch that movie. Although we won't do any drugs, because Dave's still considering looking for a government job once he's done with school. (The FBI's putting a cyber-forensics kinda analysis center dealie in Buffalo. They might need a... well, Macintosh software engineer. Who knows??!! He's got extensive telephone-security experience, from the, well, other end. [Reverse engineering? Sure!]) So, we'll drink cheap wine and let the movie do the rest.

Then we went to DiBella's and had subs (mmmmmmm....) and then we came home and realized that we had been intending on buying certain things for other people, and just plain forgot. Whoops!

But, I'm going to take a nap instead of doing anything useful. Me, I need the beauty sleep. And it's a beautiful snowy sunny day, with fresh white fluffy snow everywhere, and it's just a picturesque Buffalo day in which I can be glad that I live here. And maybe my cold will get better while i sleep. Tonight we're going to his aunt's house for dinner and I can wear some of my new Old Navy impulse purchases. (I mostly bought stuff for work, but there was this silk camisole and a t-shirt that says "egg-cellent" and has a picture of an egg on it for $2, and... you know, the little things that keep you sane and make lounging around the house much more glamorous...)

Ahhhh... Nap. Days off totally rule.
