dragonlady7am awake. have been awake for an hour. it is not yet six-thirty.
i woke up because it was too warm. the heat in this house is forced-air and when it turns on, it just blows searing-hot dry air over the whole house. It's like trying to sleep under a hair dryer. I must admit to not being a fan. Even a woodstove is less harsh and drying than this. We have a humidifier, and in the last few days I've had it going 24 hours every day, dumping about 2 gallons of water into the air every 7-8 hours or so, and it's still not damp enough for my skin and sinuses. Bah.
Can't sleep but can't write, so I was researching corset training. Don't ask why. I don't actually find trained waists appealing. I would like to, at some point in the future, obtain a corset and a dress to wear it under, but I don't actually want to compress my floating ribs or anything like that. I just want some support and some clothes that actually flatter me. I know, I know: shaped like I am, if I want clothes that both fit and flatter, I am going to have to either get rich and hire a tailor, or freaking well learn to sew. Aunt Matilda's sewing machine is in the attic. I know what I have to do.
In other news, today I get to spend much of the day baking piparkukas and wrapping my Kringle gift. I still don't know what I'm going to do beyond a vague idea. I should've borrowed someone's hot-glue gun. But maybe today I'll get into the Xmas spirit. I did a little yesterday, hanging out with Dave and trying on new clothes. But mostly I'm just impatient to open the presents for me that Mom sent. Which isn't holiday spirit so much as just being impatient.
I didn't get to finish the shopping for my parents or my sisters-- just Katy. (I hope her packages arrive.) But I'll hopefully see Fiona after the holidays, and I know what I'm going to get her... And as for Ann, I'm getting her something online anyway, I think.
