Good: shift was relaxingly not-busy.
So-So: made a whopping $11 in tips.
Bad: As of TODAY (the schedule's been posted 2 weeks) a senior bartender decided she did want Xmas off after all, so the juniormost gets shafted: Me. Found out today. I get to work Christmas Day, 9-3:30.
So Barb was OK with this for two weeks, and TODAY decided no, no, she needed to make it so I can't open my presents with Dave's family.
Nice.
At least I get to go to Xmas dinner, and do the Kringle exchange after dinner.
Like anybody flies on Xmas morning anyway. And if they are flying that day, you can bet your buttons they're not sitting in the bar drinking and tipping the bartender.
Great.
Oh, another in the So-So category: Got my first paycheck. Wow! Teeny tiny! And yes, I'm making way less than they said I would when they interviewed me. Said it'd be $6.50 an hour? It's $5.50. There's approximately thing #4 they just plain lied about. Great.
(Should I list them?
#1: You'll get health benefits. LIE.
#2: You'll get paid more for working at the slow bar where you don't get tips. LIE.
#3: You'll get to join the union so they'll advocate for you should any disputes arise. LIE.
#4: You'll be making $6.50 an hour. LIE.
What haven't they lied about? Nothing comes to mind. You know, if I lied like that on a resume they'd fire my ass.)
