yay! not a moron today!
Dec. 1st, 2004 09:05 pmYeah, i actually knew what I was doing today. That was nice.
Also, Fred the Bartender Who Works Thursdays At Local Bar And Wants Fewer Hours Hence My Getting Most Thursdays sent me home early because I already knew everything he could teach me. The Wednesday crew over there are sweethearts. It was fun.
My extreme tiredness is manifesting itself in
a) painful feet
and
b) emotional fragility
But neither is as bad as I've had before. (Though I did burst into tears for about two seconds, weirdly enough, at the realization that Cap'n & Cap'n Smith will be arriving in Iraq just in time for the elections. Sweet. but I got it together before any of the bar patrons noticed. There's this huge plasma TV tuned to CNN right behind the bar, and I keep overhearing it and wanting to yell anti-Bush slogans. It's not very healthy. But it's better than Xmas carols.)
At the airport, it was totally slow. So the woman training me spent the whole day gossiping with the other woman, and half the time they were gossiping about how much this other woman who works there sucks, and the other half they were gossiping (carefully so I'd overhear) about how great I am. (I know how to work a cash register, how to count a drawer, how to run a credit card machine, how to make change-- all kinds of things a lot of other trainees haven't known. So I guess I'm cool.) I know I'm good at what I do, and I also know that I'm making my trainer a ton in tips. (while training, your tips just go into your trainer's jar. But you get paid minimum wage instead of minimum server wage. So it's ... ok. I just wish I had a wad of cash to take home at the end of the day so I could, y'know, pay off the creditors hounding me.)
But anyhow.
Another double tomorrow, then only the airport on friday, apparently nothing Saturday, and then the airport all day Sunday in the slow, slow bar.
But tomorrow will be v. long because i have to go get fingerprinted, which is an hour-long process including a video and a class. Also, it's right by the airport. Yugh.
Ah well.
Am doing laundry tonight because that single pair of black pants I own is raunchy. Must have more pants!!
Dave's out with his buddies, having already planned that before I came home early. So I have the place to myself and am going to put the headphones on and write and pretend I don't have to work tomorrow. Ahhh.

Date: 2004-12-02 04:42 am (UTC)Just checking in to make sure you're still alive and tell you I'll start reading your novel as soon as I finish intimidating my landlord and/or moving. It's taken up most of my time for now...
