so I start my first day of work in about half an hour.

It takes perhaps three minutes to walk there, if traffic's bad on the big main street there.

Should I get out of bed now, or what?

Which kind of bar was it that hired you? The more upscale place or the "my cleavage will get me tips" place?

Well, one's a neighborhood "family" restaurant, and the other's an airport bar with a uniform that doesn't involve a particularly large amount of cleavage.

So, no witty t-shirts with 'insert money here' slogans.

Oh noo noo noo. Noo, see, it's one of those little neighborhood places. With regulars. The first order I processed this morning was Larry. Larry has a salad named after him. Because he comes in every day and has it.

Also, my first hour of shift involved watching the owner of the bar, in flip-flops and gloves, teetering on a ladder outside to put up the Christmas lights.
In flip-flops, did I mention?
