Procrastination. Or realization?
Nov. 20th, 2004 03:21 pmMe (sighing, having written the resolution): "So how should I wind this up?"
Dave: "Write an extremely pretentious last paragraph."
Yes, folks. I've written the conflict, the climax, the falling action, and the resolution. I don't really know what to say now.
...
I guess that's the end of the book.

Date: 2004-11-21 01:27 am (UTC)I put the novel aside.
No, seriously. I've got two massive huge Original Universe novels sitting on the shelf, both fantasy.
One, I've done ten years of world-building and very little coherent plotting.
The other, I've done an intensive 450,000 words of plotting, but not enough worldbuilding, so the plot keeps falling apart.
This novel is by far the simplest tale I have ever attempted.
Far more exciting is the fact that my excellent little sister is even, as we speak, reading it, and claims to be entranced by it and 'if i were holding it in the first place i wouldn't be able to put it down', which is by far the most exciting comment I've gotten so far.
So there are signs that not only have I finished it, but parts of it are readable by humans.
What a concept. :)
this is from kat

Date: 2004-11-21 01:28 am (UTC)Dances around!
Dances around some more!
Gets dizzy!
Falls over!
Picks self up and realizes it has to be revised now.
I'll send you bits as I revise them.
Hey, I'll be in Melrose as of Monday. We should hang out.
re: Hanging out!!!
Date: 2004-11-21 04:59 am (UTC)So, Monday...hmm. When Monday? I'm working from 3-11 p.m. I'm free any other time, before or after, til about 5 a.m. I'm working from 12:30 to 9 p.m. or so on Tuesday, possibly earlier, but I could leave work mid-day (after 4, but returning by 7). On Wednesday I'm working sometime during the day, don't know when yet, and after work sometime I'm leaving for NH. I know, what horrible timing. So that's a pretty sucky schedule, but just tell me when and where if you're free any of those times.
Oh, and you could always call me. My new number is 465-5076. I'm not sure if I've given that one to you yet. If you forget and call the old number, a message will tell you what the new number is. My address is now 173 Western Ave. Errr, same city as before, the one where the dysfunctional government hangs out. That way I don't give every bit of contact info away to the evil spammers of the world.
By the way, a friend convinced me to get an LJ account cuz her LJ acct is friends-locked. So now I don't have to type "this is from kat" in the subjects anymore!
Re: Hanging out!!!
Date: 2004-11-21 12:48 pm (UTC)I am glad you didn't just get the lj account for me, because I just moved on to start actually emailing story excerpts.
See, the stuff I've posted so far is too rough for me to really need comments on much of it. So I was figuring I'd send the beta draft out for comments. :)
Anyhow.
So check this out. Yay, I say, and click on your username. It brings me to your info page. I click the plus to add you as a friend. it takes me to the Confirm Add Friend page (I've done this a few times) and says "Click the button below to add kkatowll as a friend."
The "button below?"
Should say, "Add friend"?
Says "Log Out."
So I went to my Edit Friends page instead and added you that way.
But totally weird.
You should add me as a friend as well. I've added you as a friend to
I shall go make you a welcome post. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about lj. I've been using it a little while now. :)
And now you can go back and read all my juicy friends-locked posts.
Re: Hanging out!!!
Date: 2004-11-21 12:51 pm (UTC)Insofar as hanging out, I have no pre-set commitments once I am there, so I can probably squidge into your free moments. You're closer now, right? It's not like I have to get all the way over to Schenectady. Unless... well... you work there, don't you.
I'm not sure what time we'll get in Monday. But my number is -- know what, I'm going to go make a friends-locked post JUST FOR YOU with my contact info in it. So you'll ALWAYS have it. You can add it to your memories. :)
