Woke up this morning with a little phrase of music in my head and the certainty that for dinner, I was going to bake hot dogs in cornbread, one of my mom's old recipes.
I came out here and opened up Safari (my web browser) and loaded up Gmail and Livejournal, which is as close as I come to having a morning routine. (My bitchy whiny morning entry from yesterday is what happens when I am denied that. Thanks for fixing your servers, lj!)
One of the entries really made me smile and I'm not sure why.
It's by a guy I've never met, and probably the only person on my friends' list to whom I haven't gone and introduced myself. I added him because he was interesting, but unlike the rest of you who I did that for, I don't know any of his friends. I saw him posting something in a community I'd randomly surfed to, and I added him spontaneously.
He's a Sergeant in the Army, an analyst currently on his second tour in Kuwait. Most of his buddies have rotated home by now, and he's homesick for New York City.
Last night, leaving work, he noticed that it was raining. He hasn't seen very much rain lately, being in Kuwait. So he skipped home singing:
Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head.
I dunno, the image made me smile.
added: P.S. I think I can finish this novel today. What do you think?
