Actually I've been wanting a cat for years and have never felt I've had a long-term, stable enough home to offer it. Hence my somewhat sad over-feeding of my two fish. Who are dangerously fat now and have to go on a diet. I'm trying to make them exercise by teasing them with mirrors. (They're fighting fish.) But no matter how I wish, I can't pet them. Which is the point of pets.
