so. went out to dinner with dave to celebrate my noveling accomplishment.
pizza & wings. Classic Buffalo cuisine. We went to Bob & John's on Hertel, and had their excellent BBQ wings and their exemplary pepperoni & cheese pizza.
I ground out another 500 words and will probably keep working tonight, but it was significant to be able to go out and eat. We hadn't gone out since about 2 weeks ago. We tend not to go out anymore. Not since Dave's savings ran out.
so now i'm gonna go watch Evil Dead, which I rented for Halloween and never had a chance to watch.

Damn it, I hate that when I make a mistake, thousands of people will read it. Granted only about five will know it was a mistake, but they'll be really mad at me.
What happened was this: I wrote a budget story in which I said that a particular cut had been included in the preliminary budget. Then it occurred to me that the cut might have been made later (and as such won't happen -- you see, that's why it matters -- if it was in the prelim, due to complicated legal matters, the cut will happen, and if the cut was proposed later, it won't happen).
So I called the supervisor, who wrote the budget, and left him a message asking him. He always returns my calls.
Then I got called off on a series of catastrophes (people trying to kill themselves, people actually killing themselves, people trying to kill other people, etc.)
At the end of that, my editor said, "Ok, you've worked 11 hours today, go home."
And I did, forgetting that the supervisor had never called me back about that cut.
Damn, damn, damn.
I sure as hell hope I was right.
If not, I will have mislead sooooo many people... of course, they will all be glad if I'm wrong, because nobody wants the cut to happen (except two Democrats who proposed it).
See, this is when I hate my job. Or rather my performance thereof. Cross your fingers and hope that I was right.

Date: 2004-11-11 05:33 pm (UTC)I like to hear happy endings from my friends in the working world, sometimes. It's not all pain and misery! Sometimes things work out!
You are too good, Kat.
