I'm not posting an update, because I'm not at a stopping point, but I just looked down at the little wordcount bar in Word, and noticed that. Sweet!!! I am on fire!!!
That's
40%, yo.
Even after taking almost two days to be upset about politics.
I am a MAMMOTH.

Date: 2004-11-04 10:31 pm (UTC)I'm over twenty-one thousand now and I am happy, but I am well aware that it has problems. There are definite continuity errors here and there. Characters are deciding to like each other without any textual backing. I have a cast of two dozen extras and am inconsistent in using them-- I want them to be present, but don't want to overwhelm the reader (or myself!) with names, with the result that twenty of them never speak. Which is awkward.
The romance is progressing jerkily-- I am trying to do the romance-novel thing and have there be obstacles, but they have to be a) reasonable, and b) something that will keep them apart just long enough for the sex to be really exciting, and c) (really a subset of b) not something that will prove insurmountable.
AH. It's much more fun when I don't think about the problems and just write things.
And oh-- yes, it doesn't fit into any genres. Whee!!!
But, I am a machine. :) If it sucks, no big deal-- I can write more. Right? Sure. ;p

Date: 2004-11-05 07:32 am (UTC)One thing I really can do is produce.
I'm trying to work up to becoming a real novelist. Production, I can do. The rest of it... well, there's always work to be done. For example, I've never finished anything. Whoops! So, I'm hoping to change that.
