Fuck you, conservatives. And liberals. You're the same, really.
[edit: that's not quite what I mean. I am mostly irritated with conservatives. But I wanted to point out-- everyone who makes politics so important is guilty of this, not just conservatives. I am probably quite decidedly on the liberal side, meself. But I don't just want to throw things at conservatives. Well, I sort of do.]

I am not trying to hurt you.
I am not trying to outlaw anything you hold dear.
I am not trying to exercise legislative control over your life.
I am not trying to infringe on your civil liberties.
I am not trying to co-opt your deities for my decidedly earthly purposes.
I am not trying to pass judgement on you.
I am not interested in doing any of these things.
All I want is for you to leave me alone, for you to keep things that should be personal, personal (like your God and what you do in bed), and to leave my own personal things to me.
All I want is for you to accept with me the responsibility of being citizens of the world, with all the careful consideration of other nations that entails.
I am not interested in finding a unified "American" culture and standardizing it through laws, and force of arms-- not here, not in any other countries. There never has been a unified "American" culture, and to say there is one is simple closed-mindedness.
All I want is to a government I can respect because I know that it, in its turn, respects me.
All I want is to be free to live my life with the freedoms guaranteed to me by my ancestors, the drafters of the Constitution.
All I want is to be free to feel pride in my country's achievements.

I never fucked with you. I don't understand why you feel you need to fuck with me.

All this passion, all this interest in the electoral process, aroused, for nothing. Nothing has changed. Nothing will change. Ohio is irrelevant. The election itself demonstrates that we have learned nothing except how to let fear intensify that about us which is ugly.

Don't blame the liberals for this. It's not their fault.

On days like today, I'm particularly glad I'm not a Christian. If I were, I'd have my dogeared copy of the NT out and open to Revelations, and I'd be finding an awful lot of reasons to believe our fearless leader is the antichrist.

I'd probably further suggest that this is the work of Ashcroft, who's been hoping for Armageddon to hurry up so he can go home to his sweet lord. Let the eagle soar...

I don't know about the anti-christ, and I don't have a bible handy, but there is something about the Deceivers taking over - that the true followers of God's will are the ones who will be persecuted.

I blame the politickers for this.

We are all people. We all want roughly the same things.

So why do some of us feel the need to make personal beliefs into law, forcing these laws on others?

Liberals do it to conservatives as well.

They make laws because they can, because they happen to have the majority, because they have the funding, whatever.

I know you can't please all the people all the time, but is there anyone anywhere in the government who is loyal to his country instead of just to his constituents? And why are those mutually exclusive?
