anniesj, who I've never heard of before but who apparently had the Secret Service come to her (his? I think her) house, because someone on LJ read a post she wrote making fun of Bush (she's a Kerry campaign volunteer) and reported her to the FBI.
I have no idea if this is true but it's a real journal. If it's true, that's fucking crazy.
Update (before I posted this): Anniesj has also posted high-quality photos of hot chicks, and an mp3 of Team America's theme song, "America-- Fuck Yeah!" so I have decided that she absolutely MUST be "good people" and thus can't be lying. (goes somewhat guiltily to look at that high-res photo of Kiera Knightley in a collar with a chain leash, licks computer screen)

update (later): Yeah, I've decided that what happened toanniesj probably really happened, but it says way, way more about a particular asshole waste-of-time that read her flist (and apparently has the FBI on speed dial) than it does about the gov't. I'd say, any post-911 administration would probably bother to send out somebody to confront someone who posted strongly-worded attacks (even if possibly in jest) against the president's person, if the aforementioned attack were deliberately brought to their attention by some asshat who got outcompeted in a flamewar and is bitter. I mean, presidents have been assassinated. it happens. And wouldn't they look absolutely retarded if someone shot the President and had posted publicly about it on the Internet before hand? I imagine that's their thought process, more than "Oh, let's squash freedom of speech through intimidation, by going to this 22-year-old girl's mom's house and drinking coffee and laughing about how silly it all is, and keeping a record in a folder because well, we're legally required to."
