Oct. 12th, 2004 12:05 amToday's picture (ok, I know, it's late; I fell asleep at 8:30)
edit OK, I had this up before midnight, but the server where my website is hosted has the wrong time and has had for years despite all my protestations and requests that it be fixed; this is not Dave's fault but is the fault of the wonderful gentleman who hosts my site for free, so my complaints lack some vehemence. But for the record, this was up at 11:45 pm, really, and my blog posts are 20 minutes earlier than the server says they are):
My father, on board the USS Sullivans, the WWII destroyer. He's sitting at an antiaircraft gun, looking through the sights. There's one of these chairs on either side: the one on his side controls elevation, the one on the other controls side-to-side, and the person in the middle fires the gun.
The higher gray thing in the background is the USS Little Rock, moored alongside the Sullivans.
He laughed at the picture when he saw it, and captioned it, "I think the Little Rock's in range..."
