well then.
Sep. 30th, 2004 08:44 pmWell. Had there been any naysayers among you, you would now be able to gloat, and say, "I told you not to drive that ten-year-old minivan 300 miles with no brakes."
As there were no naysayers (and no yaysayers either, but that's immaterial), I am now entirely free to enjoy the situation in a state of unadvised serenity.
I thought I could make it.
I was almost right.
I have no time to really update, but I will here state, for the record, that I did not have an accident and I did not break down on the Thruway.
Also, for anyone in the State of New York who was paying attention, I was not caught in the traffic jam when they closed the Thruway after the pickup truck going the wrong way on the Thruway at high speed collided head-on with a semi trailer and exploded in flames. I did, however, see the cleanup and it was impressive. (The westbound Thruway remains closed at Exit 30 [Herkimer] while they assess whether the resultant fire has compromised the structural integrity of the road.)
I must go now and take a picture of Mom and Dad with the dog, who is leaving tomorrow on a plane at 6 in the morning stuffed into a little crate, poor thing (well, a new larger one, for $70, sheesh). They claim they won't miss her, and will be glad to have their lives back, but Mom does nothing but talk about that dog and all the terribly clever things she's done lately. So... We shall see.
