pardon any typos. have been digging in garden and thus hands are very sore.
have come up with three reasons to loathe hostas:

1) they're ugly
2) they are planted in every single place you can plant a plant in my yard
3) they have impenetrable and ridiculous root systems

but I digress.

So we went out last night, me and Dave, with Dave's buddy Chris Panozzo, who has a blog I'd link to but he never updates it. (Which reminds me, Dave's other buddy Corey got a blog and I should link to it, so I have to go find the URL again-- it's like eight years long.)

We went to a couple of places I'd never been. And I knew ahead of time that we weren't going to drink much-- due to poor planning, Chris drove to our house and then Dave drove us out, which meant that both of them had to stay sober. DUH. Oh well.
So we went to the Pearl St. Brewery, downtown, and then we went to a place called Century, also downtown, near where Chris works. They were both really nice, and I remembered again that drinkin' is DAMN CHEAP in Buffalo. We should get out more. (The whole round was $8.50 at Century. ONE DRINK is $8.50 in New York City. Jeez.)

And, knowing that it wasn't going to be a night of drunkenness, I brought my camera along. This means that I have pictures to share with you. :)

Like this one
, showing some of Buffalo's illuminated skyline.

Or this one:

That one was taken inside Century. There's a picture of me and Dave, taken by Chris. There are assorted photos inside Century, of the bar, of the signs, of the fight on TV, of the wings, of the motion-blur ghost of the bartender, of Dave flipping me off, and of assorted other glorious things. There's a very blurry picture of City Hall (it's basically a big Art Deco phallus, including sorta Art-Deco-square balls, for those who haven't seen it) taken out the car's rear window. And then there are some pictures of where we went out after drinking (of course):

Louie's, of course. The best thing about Louie's, apart from the killer meat sauce they put on the hot dogs or fries or pretty much anything you get there, is the signage. The signs posted around the restaurant, especially near the cash register, have an air of vague hostility to the customer that just cannot be beat.
