Well. Who's all grown up now?
Sep. 14th, 2004 01:37 pmSomeone has just purchased herself her first independent auto insurance policy.
From an excessively chatty Texan. (My bank, USAA, is located in San Antonio. I'm in it through my dad-- it's the bank that the U.S. Armed Forces uses. So my banking brochures (you know how they send you stuff about investments and insurance and getting loans and stuff) is all a little weird in tone-- containing FAQs on preparing for deployment, and instead of having carefully-multiethnic yuppies in the ad photos, I have carefully-multiethnic... Soldiers. I kind of like it.)
Anyhow. I am now insured. And feeling... poor. $88 a month just to make sure I don't wind up in jail! What a racket. (At least it was cheaper than the quote had been.)
Yup, i'se all growed up. And broke.

Date: 2004-09-14 10:23 pm (UTC)well. 1) I'm a woman. 2) I'm 25. 3) I've only got one speeding ticket still on my record. 4) I've only been in one accident which wasn't ruled my fault. 5) I don't expect to drive the car more than a couple thousand miles a year. And 6), I flirted shamelessly with the insurance agent. I don't know if that last part helped at all... I've never been good at that sort of thing, though one of my sisters claims to have gotten her car past a German car inspection (very stringent) by wearing a low-cut shirt and bending over a lot...
sigh. It's still a lot of money, but the car will enable me to find and keep a job. That's what I tell myself. Muh.
