in the distance, a beagle cries
Aug. 30th, 2004 11:38 amI can hear that Dave's messing with the poor dog. Bert likes it and hates it and is confused by it when you zerbert her. I can hear that he's doing it, and she's yelping and tearing around the upstairs of the house, and coming back to him for more. I guess it just overstimulates her tiny mind.
I wrote something this morning about the special-needs fish we have... we got a second betta fish, a lovely opalescent white/purple fish we've named Gibson because he looks a bit like a cocktail onion (a martini garnished with a cocktail onion instead of an olive is called a Gibson). He's nuts, and I think he's got panic-attack disorder. Dave thinks he's just agoraphobic, which is i suppose not the worst thing that could happen to a betta fish, of all animals. We have him in a tiny jar for comfort just now, sheltering behind some things so the motion in the room doesn't scare him. And I've treated his water with Bettamax and aquarium salt, in case he's ill.
But anyhow. I'll post more on that later. At the moment, our DSL application has probably arrived in Hornell, and they're probably processing it. Then they have to mail us a router and turn our service on. At the earliest, we'll be online on Wednesday.
So, today we're removing the last little dribs and drabs of our crap from Dave's mom's house. There's still a bunch of stuff in the garage, but there's enough in the new house that we can live there comfortably.
We got the washer and dryer hooked up yesterday, much to our satisfaction-- we didn't need any help, no no. We're so clever. We did it all ourselves. :) Dave was all manly and went to the hardware store to replace the old washer hoses that were leaking, and I've promised to reward him in a way that I will be kind and not tell you all about.
We have the kitchen just about done now. I am psyched to have a pantry, even if it's in the basement. And I'm loving having my own laundry room. I never really have had one before. The basement in Rochester was too nasty and damp to actually use for much. Having a basement with laundry machines, a fridge, a stove, and some tables and countertops is way more cool than I had ever thought it would be.
Anyhow. Everyone should come visit me. I should go finish cleaning stuff up. I miss having Internet and actually making entries that sometimes make sense. I promise to be more witty when I have Internet.
