there's no place like 127.0.0.1
Jul. 29th, 2004 11:05 amSo I finally put up the pictures of the place I grew up that I was talking about last night. I'm not in that mood anymore but it's still nice to look at the pictures. I tried to put them in sort of categorical order-- photos of the exterior of the house, photos of the pets, photos of the scenery around the house, photos of the interior, etc.
There's nothing so comforting as photographs of familiar things, I guess.
I'm going to try to get a job today. But of course I'm procrastinating. I got up at 7 to let the dog out, and then I washed Dave's car with dish soap and a squeegee because it was icky and gross (and the car was parked right next to the outdoor faucet...)
Dave will be gone 12 hours today, so I anticipate I'll be thoroughly bored. Hopefully I can line up a bunch of interviews for this weekend while he'll be home so I'll have the car. The idea is to get a job, sign up for car insurance, then go home, visit with the folks, collect my old car, and bring it back here. Because no matter how close it is, I am not walking home from a job bartending. The bars can close as late as 4. I'm just not going to walk around on the streets of a city as uneven as Buffalo, at 2 or 3 or 5 in the morning, by myself, dressed up in the kind of gear that gets a barmaid good tips. Don't care, man. Need a car. Hopefully I'll only need to drive it like 2 miles a day, so the gas won't be too expensive. I am not as cool as Dave; my car is a 1994 Plymouth Voyager. (But, mind you, it still gets 30 mpg-- standard transmission and a well-maintained 4-cylinder engine will do that.)
I already figured out car insurance won't break me. Just have to get the job first, so I have a steady income.
