restarting original novelwriting
Jul. 27th, 2004 11:34 amI dunno how many of you remember when I went AWOL in January, because I was writing a novel.
I don't know if any of you read the Noveling Blog. I don't know how many endured the improbable word-counts and the delirious ranting.
Those of you who did, thank you for your patience. But brace yourselves-- it's back.
Yes. I got bored with the drivel I was slogging through, and decided that if I were going to slog it should at least be with original material.
So...
I've restarted the original novel. It's being plot-overhauled. Last draft was all character-driven. That only gets me so far. There were plot problems. There were setting problems. I'm redoing it, starting with major plot revision that will cascade down the rest of the stuff I've written.
Yes, that means I can't use 400,000 words, of which about 50,000 were really polished. Too bad.
But, what I have will be better.
i still have setting problems. I still have the problem that I really ought to make up at least one language for this. I also still have the problem that none of the character or place names are any good.
But dammit, it'll have a good plot, at least.
