this is more a note to myself than anything else, as it's often handy to include these things. my livejournal has been immensely helpful to me over the last several years as a source to accurately determine the date of something.
I wonder how many others do the same thing?
I'm putting the rest into an extended entry, and writing this off as a test of the extended entry function. Why not?
(It's about a sprained ankle, people. No need to assume anything dire.)

from it, i can now ascertain the following:
I sprained my ankle on Friday, Sept 26th.
Treatment: Iced, elevated, and next day applied compression bandage.
Stayed off of it, ate pizza and ice cream.
It remained sore and tender, but I could walk by Monday with little problem.
On and off since, I've worn an ankle brace. It's never quite felt fully healed. Often doesn't hurt, but frequently does. Especially in the morning when I wake it's often sore.
November 8th I turned it again on Philadelphia's picturesque paving stones. I walked it off, and ended up walking about five miles if not more. I was in terrible pain by nightfall and had to limp badly, which put strain on the other ankle.
I elevated it. Wrapping made it worse. The pain was not the ankle so much as the instep.
Instep's been sore ever since, sometimes more than others. Can't wear any of my shoes except one pair that has heels; I mostly just walk on my toes and there's little pain. A pair of sneakers with good arch supports left me in agony after less than two hours.
Pain is inconsistent, depending on shoes, depending on weight applied. Any shoes that apply lateral compression to the foot are unwearable, as are almost any with arch support.
Recently, I hurt the ankle badly by simply stretching and rotating my foot upon awakening.
I should probably go to the doctor, so those are all the facts I know. I do know that I should probably just x-ray both feet and be done with it.
If I end up with two broken feet like my supervisor, it's going to make me feel mighty foolish. I had assumed her problems came about because she's grossly overweight. If mine are similar, I'll have to assume that either these things just happen, or I'm grossly overweight too. And here I thought it was just an extra 10 pounds that nobody would notice!
Sigh.
