Winter Cleaning

Ahh. I just cleaned off my computer's desktop. I should've taken a "before" screenshot for comparison purposes, but let's just say that it was pretty bad, and when I downloaded files it would save them in STACKS on the desktop.
This goes along with what I was doing at the end of last week that impeded my regular posting of freewrites-- rearranging and cleaning my apartment.
My sister Ann (see earlier hysterical photos) has an eerie knack for cleaning and organizing. With her help I've transformed my cluttered and cramped apartment into a really relaxing place to be.
My actual physical desk is clean as well, and is arranged so as to be an inviting paradise, with a place for everything and everything in its place. This is designed to entice me to sitting at it and doing work. This for the moment has somewhat backfired, as it has instead lured Dave to sit at it and do work, but at least someone is doing work, and I can't possibly be unhappy with that. (He's getting the backup server configured, finally, and has also promised to install lj-crosspost, so that I can maintain my ancient livejournal.)
Anyhow. Here is the After picture of my desktop. Next week is going to be so productive now that I can find everything:

As you can see, with all the open programs except iChat hidden, the desktop is pristine.
Ahhhh... It's such a beautiful thing. It's just gorgeous. Lovely. Restful. I feel... I feel at one with my chi. I feel... I feel that my whole life now has good feng shui. I should write an article about good desktop feng shui. That might necessitate my learning something about feng shui in the first place...
I have deviated from the normal Mac convention and have lined up my icons along the left of the window, like the dirty PC user that I was for ten years.
I have far too many programs in my dock, but that's an issue for another time... Shamefully, that bright flame icon is for a game that I play far to much of. (Burning Monkey Solitaire, from Freeverse.com. So addicting.)

And now I pose to you a question that has been burning in my soul ever since I downloaded this desktop wallpaper from LordOfTheRings.net:
Is Eomer crosseyed???
Dave insists yes. I say no. I think Dave's just jealous that I don't have a picture of *him* on my desktop.
Honestly, the real impetus to clean off my desktop came when I downloaded all these phatty Lord of the Rings wallpapers and when i tried them out, realized that i couldn't see anything because my desktop was so covered in icons.
