TO DO

I am one of those people who can't ever keep a thought in their heads. I am writing a to-do list to organize my thoughts, today, because I know that I can't ever remember these things long-term. What is important to me today will be important tomorrow merely as a curiosity, and things I intended to do, I sometimes forget about so thoroughly as to be astonished when I stumble across evidence in my own handwriting that I ever even knew about such a thing, let alone intended to do it.

Having been so frazzled and disorganized for the past, oh, year or decade or so, I occasionally like to collect my thoughts. So this is one of those times.

Things I Want To Do

* embroidering: FINISH CALEB'S SAMPLER GOD DAMN IT. Only then can I play with the new silk embroidery floss I bought. And do the appliques I wanted to do. Oh right, Christmas is coming... well, shit.

*sandpaper: sand down the moldy wooden cutting boards, refinish them, and either paint or stain them to make signs for Pennsic. Paint with chalkboard or whiteboard paint, perhaps? (There are four cutting boards, one large and three small; two of the small ones could be tied together to be a stand-up tabletop menu chalkboard/whiteboard for the bar, another small one could be a sign for the Causeway explaining the lighting (i.e. where people can contribute to add to it), and the larger one could become a water-resistant whiteboard or chalkboard for behind-the-bar use.
More sandpaper: sand down the clunky lucet I bought for cheap, to make it usable.
Also find the scrap wood Dad gave me last year and make it into signs already!

*mending: go through all Pennsic laundry and repair the seams on all the skirts of the dresses that had blowouts, take in the bodices that need taking in, dye the thing I made there that got stained before I even wore it (a raw silk bodice got used to mop up port on Port Night, whoops)

*lucet: make lucet cord at work to stave off boredom. Enough for peacock silk dress, new silk bodice, blue linen dress, blue silk dress. Maybe learn fingerlooping and do some of it as fingerloop braid instead-- more documentable to medieval period, and since I don't need long indeterminate lengths, might be prettier and faster. (Luceting is still sooooo sloowwww. I'm at about 1/2" per minute, when I'm really flying; braiding is at least three times as fast.)

* sewing: apron dress mockup for Liesl (green cotton twill), final version in wool; make black skirt that's already cut out; finish gray pencil skirt that just needs hem and zipper; perhaps buy and dye some raw silk to make a sheath dress for work with pockets (copy Calvin Klein one, but in peacock blue!) once I've mastered zippers.

* Pennsic XLI: finish tent wall corners and hooking-in system; curtain drawcord system?
-- work on canvas print of map-- annotate map with logos of camps?
-- work on coordinating Tour de Franzia; liase with other Swamp-neighborhood bars?
-- make some Celtic garb? Research it a little. The harp is, of course, late medieval at best, so an Iron Age persona wouldn't exactly go along with it. But then, this is the SCA and nobody really cares. Nobody who matters, anyway.

* LEARN To PLAY THE HARP : need to buy harp from Kilij/Zaliha, work on calluses. :D :D :D

Oh gosh now I want to make a stola and chiton for the derby toga party. Rearranging priorities already. I seem to have too much white linen-- maybe I should dye some?
