Hm. Have recently been invited to join Orkut. What is Orkut? As near as I can tell, it's a social networking site done by a Google engineer on his mandatory one-day-a-week personal project development time. So it's Google-sanctioned.
It's pretty cool.
it's spreading through the mods of the various SEO communities like wildfire. it's also invite-only.
i've been joining communities on it all morning.
If anyone's interested, you can read about it at www.orkut.com.
Drop me a line if you want in. It seems very cool. I'm massively amused so far. It's sort of a fully-rounded kinda forum kinda thing, and it's very funny to me to see all these people I know by forum handles telling me what their turnons and pets are.
Anyway.

Aww, they're doing snow removal now. Crazy. I just watched as the backhoe operator noticed a woman trying to shovel out her car and used his backhoe to do it. Very neat. somewhat flirty. LOL.
Anyway. I have actual client work to do today and really just want to work on my novel instead. Sigh...

Have you seen this?

Hey Bridie (Dragonlady etc etc)
Before I get to the point, a brief intro...

I must confess to having followed both your blogs since I discovered them via one of the SEO forums around October last year. Without looking too deeply into motives which probably involve a fair amount of voyeurism, I've thoroughly enjoyed the daily check for new postings. Although there is a certain amount of overlap between our work interests (as well as musical tastes), the real reason I return each day is I simply love your writing style and approach to life.

And I've been looking for a good excuse to contact you and let you know these things, but, forewarned by your advisory that people should only contact you if they have something worthwhile to say, I have bided my time.

Then today I came across this quite startling article about Orkut, and thought I'd alert you to it:

Google revives discredited Microsoft privacy policy for Friendster clone
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/35375.html

So there, now it's done. Drop me a line to say hello if you feel like it (seeing as I feel like I know you a little from reading your blogs).
My own one isn't worth looking at cos I haven't gotten around to writing anything yet.

Cheers
Marc
