Freeeeeeeeeee
Dec. 15th, 2003 09:44 amI'm free. They finally fired me on Friday.
So, I have a billion things to do. Including figure out how to make my freelance job pay enough to support me.
I have to redesign my website.
Also, I have to apply for unemployment. I have no idea how to do this, and don't know who to ask. Also, health insurance-- I've got to work something out.
But both of the above are complicated by the fact that my company, out of guilt I guess, is keeping me on the payroll for one more pay period. So I'm not technically unemployed for two more weeks.
And the unemployment law site I went to when they first said they were thinking of firing me, it said you should apply ASAP after being fired. Like, that day or the next.
However.
Does that mean today?
Or does that mean two weeks from today?
Two weeks from today is December 29th. I'll be in Buffalo.
I don't have a car, either. i think I have to go there in person. I don't... Yeah. I really just don't know what I'm supposed to do, when. Or how I'm supposed to get there.
I'm going to take Dave's car on Wednesday and run errands-- mostly shopping-- but I don't know how or what or... Gah. Mind you any day I borrow his car means I have to drive him across the Tappan Zee to work, then back over to come home, then back over to get him, then back over again to get home. I don't like driving at the best of times. Now, the roads are all shitty because nobody around here can remember from year to year that it snows sometimes, in the winter, and thus the roads must be treated differently. God, it drives me nuts.
Today I have a lot to do. This week is going to be crazy. And somehow time just keeps slipping by. I have so many things to do. It's overwhelming. I will somehow, somehow work it all out. I will. It'll be awesome. I just... I need a schedule.
Which I can't even hope to keep to. Sigh. *goes nuts, runs in circles*

Date: 2003-12-15 12:28 pm (UTC)You can get health insurance through COBRA. You get it for like 6 months after you lose your job (i think you lose cobra when you get another job). Basically what it does is you get to keep the same plan that you had at work. The only problem is that you have to pay for it, which can be expensive. I would also check into Child Health Plus. It is a new york state program that ensures health insurance to children. I thought you were eligible till only 18, but the office manager at my firm said you can get it until 25. I have to check into it because I will have a 3 month gap from when I graduate from school until I start working at the firm.
