western new york!

Hey-- to any Western New Yorkers out there, it looks like I'll be in the Lyle Ave. Tahou's around midnight this Friday. (That's in Rochester, to you uninitiated.) Dave and I are taking a flying weekend trip to Buffalo. :D
Buffalo has become, for me, a kind of haven, an idealized place. Don't get me wrong-- I know what's wrong with Buffalo. (Chris Pannozzo has had some interesting rants, among others. Pity he doesn't update that blog anymore.) The snow, the politics, the budget, the idiot corrupt politicians. But... it's not here, and that's a big plus. I've simply never settled into happiness in Westchester. So I long for escape to a place less crowded, less expensive, less pretentious, less self-satisfied... with cheaper beer and better wings. I wouldn't mind some real weather now and then either; it's rained for six months here and what with all the hills, that's just not pretty.
Anyway, 16 hours of driving in about 52... Yay! It's a scenic drive but not when you do it in the dark. :/ Ah well. I'm figuring on having a grilled cheese plate at Tahou's. I just... haven't had one in forever. Mmmmm.
