I would love to see the T-Rexes more clearly. The idea of a dress with T-Rexes on it just tickles me. Do you know Diane Duane’s cat-wizard books? There’s a particular saurian character who would probably love to have his image emblazoned on human clothing. :D

I am not familiar with those books. I admit, I got a literature degree in 2002 and have read very narrowly since then. Most of what I read is fanfic, or highly-targeted research for a story, and I have very little intake of original material; I pick about one fandom a year, if that, and that spans books, TV, and movies. So in general, in anything in culture, if you ask if I’m familiar with it, the answer’s probably no. It’s weird, I know, and I’m missing out on great stuff, I know, but I just don’t have a ton of room in my imagination for other people’s worlds, and what room I have tends to get filled by fellow fans’ input instead. I admire the richness of other peoples’ cultural references but there’s just whole swathes of it that are outside what I’m aware of. I haven’t even seen the Harry Potter movies because I figured the books had taken up enough space as it was.

The dress, however!

I bought it on Amazon and this incredibly intelligent company just has hundreds of listings for similar dresses in basically any print you can imagine. This listing is for a variety of prints incorporating dinosaurs; I have my eye on a similar listing but for unicorns. And I bought a 3x, and some of them are available up to a 5x, so. (Does that translate to any reasonable sizes? Not really, but I do have an approximately 50-inch bust, so, I don’t know what size that is, it really varies by manufacturer, but it’s well over the line into anybody’s definition of Plus. So that’s nice, because most of this kind of adorable shit comes in “one size fits all!” where if you look at the size chart, “all” means “up to a 38-inch chest measurement”, which I had when I was in fourth grade I think.)

They’re also extremely stretchy, so I could probably have happily poured myself into an XL, but this is much nicer because there’s a lot less show-through when you have enough room. A 3x fits me basically unstretched– which is great because it’s clingy material and so if stretched would show every line of every undergarment, but loose is a little better about skimming such things, but sort of annoying because that means it kind of wants to stretch and so if I put a coat on over it I have to then put the dress back where it ought to be, because it’s happily stretched itself to follow the lines of the coat and uh my boobs are over here bro. (It’s like a lightweight swimsuit material. It would probably dry in about ten minutes. It doesn’t wrinkle. It surely doesn’t breathe either but who cares?)

It kiiiind of makes me want to make myself a plain dress and silkscreen whatever I want onto it, but. Maybe I can reverse-engineer the pattern in something less stretchy. It’s a very basic but I’d say pretty universally flattering style, it’s clever of them to have adapted it like this.
