Ahh I know this feel. I used to try to take advantage of it, when I had stuff to write for school. I'd pick something to read based on whether its style would go with the kind of paper I needed to write. Sometimes it helped, sometimes it didn't.

yeah. a lot of years of that and it kind of mushes into a reasonable style. hilarious, though, when you read back through your works in an old fandom and you're like wowwwww ok everyone writes these tropes the same, that's amazing. just-- I noticed it particularly with SG:A because I came in so late to it, so I was reading stuff from like, you know, like 2008, and immersed in that, and the contemporary idiom is just so subtly different, and then I'm writing my shit in 2013 like it's 2008 and you can tell-- well, I couldn't at the time, but now that it's 2015 and I look back, oh man I really can tell.
