Rules: Tag nine users you want to get to know better.
I was tagged by @deputychairman and @exuberatrix and am exceptionally amused by the thought of wasting my employer’s time because I’ve been doing unpaid work for the last three weeks and haven’t had more than half a moment to myself the whole time so the idea is hilarious. Next week I’ll be back at my paid but incredibly boring and soul-sucking job so I’ll have more time for that sort of thing. Consolation, perhaps?
Relationship status: I’ve been with the same dude since 2002 or 3, I don’t remember now, he’s rad, I haven’t seen him much lately though. He texts me daily at 4:20 because neither of us has ever been into weed and that makes it hilarious. I’m not actually poly in real life but in fiction I totally am. IRL I can barely keep track of the one dude. Our relationship mostly works because we can both sit in mutual silence comfortably for hours and hours and also achieve mutual orgasms with a minimum of effort, which is an underrated skill.
Favorite colors: royal blue is my most favorite, but I’m generally fond of jewel tones, bold primary and secondary colors. Just not yellow, I was told once that blondes can’t wear yellow and so I’ve never let myself like it.
Pets: I have an extremely spoiled cat who I haven’t seen in nearly a month not even in a photo and I’m super sad about it. Here on the farm there are three cats and a dog, and the littlest cat sometimes comes out to find me in the yurt where I sleep, but hasn’t lately. The dog rolled in pig shit today and is locked out in the yard and is super sad about it, but holy hell she smells fucking terrible, there’s no way she’s coming in the house. She Doesn’t Understand. Someone is going to have to bathe her tomorrow and there might be bloodshed and it’s going to be just the fucking worst. :( What a dumb dumb idiot. I’m extremely bummed about this.
Chapstick or lipstick: Neither, about 99.99% of the time. I’d love to be the sort of person who used those sorts of things but I am incapable of forming a habit or actually committing to an aesthetic.
I think I’d look great in blood-red lipstick but never one time in my life have I ever actually found a shade that didn’t instantly turn way too pink or way too orange on me. It doesn’t matter anyway, I can’t keep the stuff on, but someday maybe I’ll learn to stop buying red lipstick in the vain hope that it’ll actually be red.
Incidentally like two years ago someone on this site replied to a post or something and said they were an expert on makeup somehow, when I whined about this precise thing, and I couldn’t reply to replies back then, and the reply vanished and I have no idea how to ever find it. So, whoever you were, you probably don’t even go here anymore, but it was a cool thing to say.
Last song I listened to: I actually did have music playing today for the three fucking hours I spent washing eggs. Last song I listened to was Gillian Welch’s “Barroom Girls”. well the night came undone like a party dress/ and fell at her feet in a beautiful mess I have a chunk of a fic written with this song in it and it is something too incomplete to ever publish and as such has taken on a kind of mythological status in my mind as the Best Thing I’ve Ever Written. I have never yet been able to bring myself to reveal the layers of spoilers that would have gone into explaining it. I wish I had reason to, but literally nobody cares.
Well, nobody asked, but I’m going to say it anyway: it was for a Stargate: Atlantis fic, and involved a rarepair so rare nobody’s ever bothered before: Nancy Sheppard and Vala Mal Doran. I know, right? I was proud of it. Nobody gives a shit, but I was proud of it.
Favorite TV show: I have watched like four TV shows ever in my life. I could just list the TV shows I’ve watched ever. Not counting stuff I was super into as a little kid, like Animaniacs and Rescue Rangers and that one weird anime my sisters and I used to get up super early to watch on weekday mornings for like, two months in 1993. So I guess the winner is Stargate: Atlantis, but only for fic purposes. Mm. I can’t think of anything else I’ve watched on TV and really enjoyed. That doesn’t mean I have, it just means I can’t think of it.
First fandom: My middle school bestie and I thought we invented the concept of fanfic, and it was to write our own Mary Sues into the Dragonriders of Pern. This happened in the early 90s, so.
First fandom I ever got involved in, in that I knew other people were into, was Lord of the Rings, right as the movies were starting to come out, and I was totally in the Books Are Better brigade but got over myself pretty quickly when I realized that the whole point of fanfic was that I could write the real Éomer back into the movieverse if I wanted. yessss
Hobbies: ugh what even are hobbies. Uh, I sew a lot. I paint witty slogans onto t-shirts. I’m an avid amateur photographer and I take a shitload of pictures of everything.
Sleep. I wish my hobby was sleep. I aspire to have that as a hobby.
