You know, in my head he doesn’t look that much like Oscar! The expressions are good, but I have a super-clear vision in my head of Kes and I have no idea how to describe him. I don’t usually have such strong visions of characters but I do for him.
In my really strong vision, though, he’s about 20, so. Older, yeah, he’d look like that and he’d definitely have the cute-but-can-kill-you downcast gaze mastered.
Even if Isaac doesn’t look like Kes, I am still tickled by the idea of him playing Kes. I think he would do an excellent job and I for one would love to see Isaac play the sweet ruthless dyslexic goofball space Maya slaughtering Yavin 4 chickens and smothering baby Poe in love; what a trip.

I wish I could draw, I really do, for a lot of reasons. (I was decent at it in high school, until it came time to apply for art schools and my teacher was like oh, no, don’t, you’re not very good. So I didn’t, and I haven’t drawn since, which is a shame because I used to love it, but hey. Teachers have a lot of power.) I can still doodle well enough to make embroidery patterns, but that’s about it. I can’t do a human likeness and just don’t have the spoons for the amount of study it would require to get to that point. But. If I could, things would be different, but at least I could show you what I meant here.
Kes is physically bigger and rangier than Poe, and mostly smiles without showing his teeth, unless he’s either dying laughing or trying to be a little scary.
I have a lot of good Kes material lately, largely because I was attempting to work on something else. Including how he could go from being a cinnamon roll to a pretty terrifying badass in like, one brief interlude.
I mean. Isaac would do a great job, because he’s excellent at acting, including mastering the little details like how a character moves his face when he smiles. I just don’t have such a strong investment in him as all that; he’s Poe, to me, and I tend to keep my interactions with actors to about that level. (I did try to write an RPF once, but I got stuck on plot, so. Hilariously, it didn’t involve any shipping except on the part of BB-8.)
I really ought to nail down an actress to facecast for Shara, though, because the comics are okay but a little wooden and I could do better, I bet, in envisioning her if I had a better inner picture of her physicality.
