Hmm.

Spent the drive back to Buffalo working out plot things. Good news for Home out in the Wind, I think I finally know what the defectors are supposed to have been doing and why.

Terrible news for Kes and Shara: I totally misunderstood the timeline of events of the original Star Wars trilogy, and so Poe is currently two years older than he ought to be, so that’s an issue, and I don’t like to think about how I’d have to fix it. So I have to work on that. I was figuring on a particular interpretation of events and so it wasn’t an issue but then like an idiot I decided that a politically active person would know Breha Organa and her date of death is like, a really important immovable crucial bit of canon, so. Uh. Hm.

I don’t wanna do what I’d have to do to make that line up with canon. No, I really don’t. This is what I get for starting out writing something cute for myself without doing any research first, and only once I’m overinvested starting to look at what it actually requires.

(But, yes, I had the date of the Battle of Endor wrong, and I’m just an idiot. I can’t remember numbers, and that’s even worse when the numbers are all relative instead of absolute– apparently there was no actual calendar system in the star wars universe and everything is just dated from the battle of yavin? why on earth didn’t they have a calendar? that seems really… they had faster-than-light travel but no system of reckoning dates? It just doesn’t seem right. But anyway.)
