It’s performative piety and it’s specifically othering anyone who uses that as a self-determined identity.
I recognize queer has been used as a slur; that’s the POINT, that’s why it got reclaimed. You don’t have to like it - black list it all you like, avoid using it yourself - but you don’t get to perform your ideological purity by suggesting my identity should be -unspeakable-.
And if your reason is ‘my followers asked me to’, guess what, your followers are also capable of blacklisting 'queer’. If they’re asking you to tag it they’re not asking you to help protect them - they’re asking you to help make my identity anathema. Think about that.
