your writing does not have to be good. your author’s note does not have to go on its knees for a hundred words before each chapter repenting. you only have to let the soft gremlin of your brain write what it wants. (Your picture was not posted)

Date: 2023-08-18 12:05 pm (UTC)I do fall prey to this a little, the reflexive-cringe of having been Too Exuberant Online, when you're the sort of person who misses details all the time-- I tend to overapologize in notes. But I don't run myself down, I just say "I might've missed something here and please let me know if I need to tag it better", because I am not gifted with a great store of attention span.
I saw another post somewhere, wonder if it's in my drafts or queue, that said sometimes the warnings serve not necessarily just as a filtering mechanism but also as like a. Oh gosh. They said it better than I could. But like a "I am tagging this to tell you that this subject matter is in here and I've considered it", rather than "this subject matter may appear and I clearly didn't even think about how it could be hurtful/scary/gross", which plagues so many like, mainstream media properties who just sort of throw in complicated stuff without addressing it just for funsies. IDK I'm not saying it well. but. That. I'll have to find the post.
